Be prepared to teach and explain how yogic practices support emotional well-being.
Define “emotional well-being,” “emotional balance” and “emotional intelligence.” Note a fundamental requirement for emotional well-being and a key to further evolving our relationship with emotions. Describe which emotional states are healthy. Discuss how limiting beliefs and emotions are related. Describe how we feel feelings (as opposed to suppressing or distracting ourselves) and the essential practice to do so. Discuss the relevance of emotions as energy in motion and how we can wisely respond. Explain the particularly helpful interpretation of the philosophical teaching of nonattachment as it relates to emotions. Share Leslie Kaminoff’s simple and elegant 4-minute summary of how yoga can support healthy emotional processing. Discuss the relationship between emotion as energy and how yoga impacts our energy.
