In this lesson, we introduce traumatic brain injury (TBI) and concussions, and explore considerations for supporting students and clients who have experienced a TBI.

Objective

Be familiar with traumatic brain injury (TBI) and concussions, and considerations for supporting students and clients who have experienced a TBI.

Description

Define and describe concussions, TBIs and mTBIs. Provide statistics on prevalence of traumatic brain injury. Provide symptoms of TBIs and discuss the importance of “what people don’t see.” Cite research related to TBIs. Note best practices for teaching yoga to students who have experienced a TBI. Provide a list of other therapies for consideration.
