In this lesson, we introduce multiple sclerosis (MS) and explore considerations for supporting students experiencing MS.

Be familiar with multiple sclerosis (MS) and teaching considerations for supporting students experiencing MS.

Description

Explain what Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is and define “neuron” and “myelin.” Describe how MS affects myelin sheaths and the outcomes from those effects. Cite research that demonstrates yoga’s impact on people living with MS. Explore the two main concerns for people with MS who practice yoga. Explain how yoga may help to lessen the likelihood of MS flareups. Give examples of how yoga can help people living with MS to manage everyday tasks. Name some of the ways that yoga can relieve symptoms of MS and help to speed recovery. Note yoga practices that you might consider for students with MS.
