Yoga’s Foundational Philosophies: Samkhya, Advaita Vedanta, Tantra — for Yoga Teachers, Yoga Therapists, Health & Wellness Coaches, Holistic Healthcare Providers

Lesson Overview

In this lesson, we introduce three foundational philosophies that inform many traditions of yoga.

Objective

Be aware of key assumptions underlying the philosophical systems on which various branches of yoga are based: Samkhya, Advaita Vedanta, and Tantra.

Description

Compare this perspective with the teachings of Advaita Vedanta and Tantra, and examine how these traditions interpret the nature of consciousness. Define Tantra and discuss the purpose of tantric practices within the broader context of yoga philosophy.
