Newsletter Archive

Dear Colleague,

Welcome! I’m glad you found us. Scroll down for quick links to the past year of newsletters. Or, if you’re interested, here’s a little backstory…

I vividly remember sending our very first newsletter in 2012. At the time, most online resources for teachers and providers were geared toward sales and event promotion. I was searching for something else entirely: a way to manage continuing education and professional reference material. As I began creating an online reference portal that effectively directed me to the support I was seeking, the newsletter became a natural way to share how knowledge can be structured and applied in meaningful ways.

The response was energizing! In those early years, the online space was far less crowded, and each issue drew significant attention — driving traffic, engagement, and memberships. By 2015, I shifted from a monthly to a weekly format to provide more timely support. Over time, each newsletter expanded, often covering multiple topics because I wanted to be sure readers with different priorities could explore what mattered most to them.

Fast forward a decade: the volume of content online had exploded and our newsletters had become longer and harder to navigate. In 2025, we introduced a new approach—shorter, single-topic posts delivered more frequently. This format makes it easier to quickly hone in on what you need, when you need it.

I value your thoughts on how this format works for you and how we can continue to support your professional journey.

Warmly,

Shelly Thorn

  2. Emotions are at the heart of the human experience — Emotions such as awe and gratitude show us a connection to something larger than ourselves. 3. Key: Holding One Another Accountable — Accountability is essential, individually and societally, making how we respond to dishonesty the very bedrock of the communities we create. Let’s explore, discuss and put this into practice. There have been times when people had no choice but to take personal responsibility, as they were accountable not to a system but to their peers. Today, that is rarely the case. link
  4. Empower Others —  If you’ve had success with clients or students — whether through nutritional counseling, yoga teaching, or stress reduction tools — you’re naturally impacting a person’s energy. These specifics shape our work so we’re stepping forward and leading in ways that make maximum impact. 4. Distinguishing Lost Naivete and Stolen Innocence — Innocence is sacred. Our natural desire to protect it is so strong that when it is shattered, something within us shatters too. Unlike innocence, naivete is not sacred. It’s a stage we outgrow. We were naive because we trusted what we were told. Behind the naivete is stolen innocence. Recognizing this distinction can direct our energy toward true healing & rebuilding. link
  5. The World is Ready for You Now — Factual reasons why the world is more ready for you than ever before — and how to use your skills for bigger impact using sustainable practices. 7. How to Avoid Decontextualized Information — A friendly reminder that we want to avoid decontextualized information that gives us a false sense of certainty by implying it’s providing the “right” answer. Here’s how. Search engines rely on algorithms designed and defined by tech companies. I’ve found that for many real-world needs, including those of teachers and providers, human-led curation is superior. link

That type of slide deck would also be easy to incorporate into presentations of all kinds, helping to ground your work in solid, evidence-based results. link
  11. Evidence as Catalyst — When she can see how practices like yoga affect her physiology and biology—not just how they make her feel—she’s more likely to commit to that twice-weekly class. And when providers are given the opportunity to easily focus on evidence in context, they’re more likely to actively recommend & meaningfully integrate yoga & other interventions. link
  12. New Personalized Support — Helping wellness providers, coaches, yoga teachers, trainers, and health educators step into their next level of service and leadership.
