Mantras: Words of Power by Swami Sivananda Radha link
I’ve consulted 18 books on the Yoga of Sound and Mantras. They are each valuable, and all so different from one another! What I love about this one is that it has some of the qualities I find in the teachings of my favorite teachers: it’s clear and accessible, reads like a fascinating tale told by a clearly experienced storyteller, offers context, theory and history while also focusing on practicality and practice. – Shelly
Learning to surrender to the mantra and to the energy of the mantra puts in motion the process of purification of the self, facing up to and eliminating selfishness, self-glorification, self-justification and self-gratification. Do not let the intellectual mind distract you from attempting the practice of Mantra and Japa. No amount of words or book knowledge can give you the experience. You have to practice yourself for the effect to be understood.
While we have highlighted this outstanding books, there are many wonderful books and we encourage you to peruse the entire list. Any one of these may be just what you need!
