In this lesson, we explore asana considerations for supporting students with arthritis of the knee.

Objective

Be prepared to choose, adapt and sequence poses to support students with arthritis of the knee.

Description

Provide reasons that knees may be prone to developing arthritis. Give five general strategies that can minimize knee pain. Describe an approach to sequencing standing postures for students with arthritis of the knee. Describe the sequencing approach of a sample sequence for knee issues. Give four potential seated pose modifications to support people with knee issues. Provide a modification for kneeling poses and describe how standing poses may be modified for arthritis of the knee.  Provide poses to consider with students who have arthritis of the knee.
