In this lesson, we introduce toxins and their scientifically documented effects on human health.

Objective

Understand the widespread presence of toxins and how toxic accumulation affects the body’s physiology, immune function, and overall health.

Description

Explore the relationship between toxins and the immune system, including key terminology used to describe toxic effects at the cellular level. Define oxidative stress and explain its role in inflammation and disease processes. Examine the vast number of man-made toxic substances in circulation today, including estimates from official scientific and governmental sources. Identify common toxins encountered in daily life and describe the pathways through which they enter the body. Review research demonstrating how toxins impair health, disrupt immune function, and contribute to chronic illness. Examine 15 common routes of toxic exposure.
