In this lesson, we introduce and explore the essential functions of vitamin D and techniques for ensuring sufficient levels.

Objective

Have a factual understanding of how essential vitamin D is to bodily functioning, health, and disease; the consequences of insufficient vitamin D; and techniques for ensuring sufficient levels.

Description

Discuss how vitamin D is produced. Provide the optimal source of vitamin D and how seed oils interfere. Explain the effectiveness of vitamin D3 vs. D2. Discuss vitamin D’s roles and functions. Explain the physiology that makes vitamin D bio-available. Provide reasons why vitamin D deficiency is rampant and list illnesses that can be caused by deficiency. Discuss factors that impact the efficiency of the body’s synthesis, absorption and metabolism of vitamin D, including skin pigmentation, nutrient levels, and illnesses, plus whether the supplement is taken with food or water. Provide a detailed discussion of considerations to ensure adequate levels of vitamin D.
