The Business of Teaching

Teaching Standard

Be familiar with business considerations related to yoga teaching including the importance of your niche, applying mindfulness, and considering various career strategies.

Assessment

Building Business & Revenue Streams

Teaching Standard

Be familiar with the variety of ways to build teaching experience and create revenue streams via different teaching formats and opportunities.

1. Name a number of ways to build teaching experience.
2. List multiple revenue streams that are possibilities for yoga teachers.
3. Discuss the topic of passive income.
4. Describe reasons students might seek out private sessions.

Marketing Your Yoga Business

Teaching Standard

Be familiar with ways to approach marketing of a yoga business.

Assessment

1. What are fundamental ways to effectively approach marketing your business?
2. Describe an opinion in favor of branding your business, and an opinion against it.
3. What are some considerations for social media?
4. Describe the different content strategies recommended for your bio / About Me page vs. other marketing.
5. What can help to make your bio more effective?
6. How can you describe “your story” effectively?
7. What are some considerations for managing your email marketing?
8. What are some ways to build an email list?

Insurance & Continuing Ed

Teaching Standard

Be aware of recommendations, requirements and resources for obtaining teaching insurance, getting signed liability waivers, choosing professional affiliations and engaging in continuing education.

1. Why is teaching insurance recommended?
2. Why are liability waivers recommended for yoga teachers?
3. Is Yoga Alliance registration necessary to obtain teaching or studio insurance?
4. Name multiple insurance provider choices.

7. Are teachers or trainers required to be registered with Yoga Alliance or any other organization?
